Volunteer Maintenance Assistant
The work that goes on behind the scenes is vital to ensure the smooth running of our animal centre and services.
Overview
At the Animal Centre we have lots of weekly and monthly maintenance tasks to keep the centre safe and well-presented for our animals, visitors, volunteers and staff. As a Volunteer Maintenance Assistant you will play a vital role in these essential activities.
Main duties and responsibilities

Perform weekly and monthly maintenance tasks, such as fire alarm tests, routine checks of equipment, replenishing supplies etc.

Empty the general waste and recycling bins around the centre and assisting in our effort to recycle as much as possible

Assist with the work of the Volunteer Gardening & Grounds Assistants as needed; keeping the premises neat and tidy

Occasional cleaning duties such as windows, branch van and staff and volunteer areas
Requirements for the role

All training will be provided so no previous experience will be required

A good level of fitness as the role involves physical activities and manual handling

A desire to support the animal welfare work of the RSPCA

Ability to follow instructions and comply with RSPCA policies and procedures

Flexibility to assist with one-off maintenance jobs as required

Self-motivated and able to work alone as well as part of a team

Commitment to a regular shift at the animal centre

Participate in at least one fundraising event, collection or activity per year
