Ebby was brought to the RSPCA Chesterfield & North Derbyshire Branch by an RSPCA Animal Welfare Officer. She was found in very poor condition, living in a small cupboard under a kitchen sink. Ebby was so scared and fearful of her surroundings that she immediately urinated on the floor when she was moved by the RSPCA officer. She was used for breeding in her previous home, the male dogs she lived with were regularly fighting with her and attacking her. It appeared that Ebby had spent most of her life living under the kitchen sink trying to go un-noticed.
Ebby was very scared and timid when she first arrived at the animal centre and needed veterinary treatment for numerous infected wounds, her body and face were badly scarred from her ordeals. The staff at the animal centre spent many weeks treating and nursing Ebby. Although Ebby was understandably very timid and nervous at first, she also showed a great deal of trust towards the staff. It quickly became apparent she had a very gentle and loving side to her temperament.
With lots of love and care from our dedicated staff, Ebby started to grow in confidence. She became a much happier dog, always pleased to see people and extremely friendly. Ebby eventually found a new home with an understanding owner and she continues to do well. The RSPCA Chesterfield & North Derbyshire Branch helps hundreds of animals like Ebby, without your support and generosity the work we do within our animal centre would not continue.
What is Safe Haven?
Joining our Safe Haven is a way of sponsoring a dog kennel, cat pen or rabbit pen at our animal centre, which will help provide a safe environment for abused, abandoned or mistreated animals.
By joining our Safe Haven scheme you won’t be helping one animal, you’ll be sponsoring the lives of all who pass through our animal centre every year.
