Marnie was brought into our care after being rescued by the RSPCA from a multi-dog household
She was just a puppy when she arrived at our centre, alongside one adult dog and three other pups from the same property, where more than 80 dogs were found living in squalid conditions.
Of all the puppies, Marnie was the shyest. She was overwhelmed by the sudden change in her circumstances and visibly frightened by the world around her. Our dedicated animal care team provided Marnie with the patient, specialist care she needed to begin rebuilding her confidence and learning to trust again.
Richard Grainger, Animal Care Assistant, recalls working with Marnie.
“When Marnie first came to us, she appeared to be a lost soul. Completely overawed by what she had been through and the change in circumstances she was facing. But as each day passed, a little more of her light began to shine through. Her progress was remarkable; within days, she had moved from staying quietly in her kennel to sitting by our side, then on our laps, and soon after, she was playing and frolicking in the fields. She turned into an affectionate, gentle, and incredibly special dog.”
With time, consistency, and kindness, Marnie continued to flourish. Once she was ready, she was placed up for rehoming and soon found her forever home. She is now happy and healthy, living with her new owner, Rebecca, and her canine companion Bailey, who has helped her continue to grow in confidence.
