What’s involved?

There are no tricks – the fire is real!

You’ll receive 1-2 hours of training on the night from an experienced Firewalk instructor to prepare you mentally and physically for the challenge ahead. You’ll learn how to overcome any limiting beliefs and harness your inner strength.

The team of qualified professionals from our accredited provider, Firewalk UK, will get the Firewalk ready for you to walk barefoot over 5m of burning embers at temperatures exceeding 1000 degrees Fahrenheit!

Registration costs just £25 and we ask that you commit to raising a minimum of £150 in sponsorship. We’ll provide you with a fundraising pack with all the information you need, plus lots of useful tips to help you reach your target. You’ll have the full support of the RSPCA Chesterfield team along the way.

We encourage you to bring your friends and family to the Firewalk to cheer you on and celebrate your achievement. There’ll be stalls, music, food and drink to keep you and your guests entertained.

All participants must be aged 18 or over. Dogs are not permitted at this event.

FAQs

Anyone aged 18 or over and able to walk unaided over 5m can take part.

No, all the necessary training will be provided at the event.

Any activity involving fire does involve an inherent element of risk – which is part of the appeal of this unique challenge! However, we’re using a highly experienced and qualified company to support us in this event and with the proper procedures in place, the risk is reduced to the achievable minimum. It’s essential that participants pay attention to all training and follow the advice and instructions of the Firewalk team.

The sensation is described by some as walking on eggshells, and others as walking on hot sand. Each walker has their own experience. It’s not reported to be painful and, if the opportunity arises, many people will walk across more than once.

Firewalks have taken place in all sorts of weather so it’s unlikely the event would be unable to go ahead. If, due to exceptional weather conditions, the event had to be postponed, a rescheduled date would be arranged.

Please wear comfortable clothing that does not restrict your movement. If you wear trousers, they must be able to be rolled above your ankle. You’ll need to remove your shoes and socks for the Firewalk itself. It may be useful to bring a hand towel to wipe your feet as they may get dirty from the ash.

Yes, absolutely! Firewalking is an amazing team-building experience for your employees and will create a real buzz around the workplace. You’ll also have the satisfaction of knowing that your business is doing something special for a worthwhile cause.
