Ambitions plans to refurbish Chesterfield’s animal centre have hit a milestone – as the project moves on to a new phase.
The RSPCA’s rebuild appeal has now raised £50,000 and staff and volunteers have turned their attention to redeveloping the dog kennels, at the site on Spital Lane.
The first phase of the project, to build a modern rabbit house, was completed in summer and now the charity is in the planning and design phase for the kennels.
Branch Fundraiser Julie Platts said: ‘It feels amazing to break through the £50,000 milestone. Our supporters are brilliant and inspire us every single step of the way. They are the ones who keep reminding us that this dream of ours can become a reality for all the animals in our care.’
Staff have been visiting kennels across the country to help create a state-of-the-art design. The aim is to have a fully modernised and updated base by the end of 2020.
