Volunteer Van Driver
With a desire to help animal welfare and a fondness for driving, you could be perfect for our team, transporting essential donations for our animals and Charity Shop and other driving tasks.
Overview
As a Volunteer Van Driver you will be out in the heart of the community, representing our branch. Our charity relies on the generosity of our local community, whether that is food donations for the animals or stock donations to sell at our Charity Shop to raise funds for the centre; we can’t continue our vital work without these and as a volunteer van driver, you will be a key part of the team.
Main duties and responsibilities

Collect food donations from the drop-off points in the supermarkets around Chesterfield

Collect stock donations from supporters’ homes in and around Chesterfield

Deliver stock to our Charity Shop

Sort and separate stock for the Charity Shop and Animal Centre

Ad-hoc tasks such as taking animals to and from the vets

Assist with the weekly maintenance check for the van
Requirements for the role
-
Confident driver, happy to drive to new locations

Experience of driving a transit van or similar would be desirable, but not essential as training will be provided

Aged 21 or over with a full UK driving licence and a minimum of three years driving experience

Complete an online driving course and annual driving declaration

Ability to lift and carry donations

A desire to support the animal welfare work of the RSPCA

Positive and friendly communication skills are required for this public facing role

Ability to follow instructions and comply with RSPCA policies and procedures

Participate in at least one fundraising event, collection or activity per year
